Employers today require faster, easier payroll solutions for their organisations and advances in technology are making this possible. Josh Bersin of Deloitte, an HR industry global specialist, advises that there are huge changes and disruptions taking place in 2017 in the HR industry worldwide. The primary driver of this change is technology. Whereas in the past HR was largely about administration, today it is much more about strategic management and to enable this, organisations need to be using up-to-date technology solutions.

Management needs to be able to get feedback on performance, real-time engagement, use the new tools available on recruitment and help people in the organisation achieve work-life balance. Management should be able to provide mobile, anytime learning and enable staff to use self-service applications to access activities as leave and performance management.

Zimbabwe operates in a global economy and in order to compete we should be managing our people using world best practices, not clinging to the past where our people are seen as nothing more than ‘resources’ to be managed and manipulated. Much emphasis today is placed on ‘Staff Engagement’. Engaged staff are first of all happy in their work and in consequence highly motivated, highly productive and able to make worthwhile contributions to their personal growth and development.  And in consequence, the growth and development of the organisation. While jobs today are not easy to find, there will come a time when this changes. When that happens the disruption to your business could be catastrophic unless management makes time today to do what needs to be done to change.
